End of Time
January, 2020
The sky blanks out
Waiting for a delivery
Keeps the floor clear, dogs out
Children in.
The empty street
No pedestrians no cars
Remains like a photo,
Thumbed and still.
No bad guys, i.e. armed police.
No good guys, i.e. protesters
Carrying stones (they have no guns)
To hurl at bad guys
Who don’t show up.
The world stops turning
At this moment when
No food no water, no rain
No bad or good fellows or females
No kids in baseball hats come swinging.
Not today. Not tomorrow.
Not ever, not ever.
